What is an eBay bid increment?

To place a bid on eBay auctions, you must place a bid of at least the current bid + the bid increment. The bid increment refers to the amount an auction must be raised when placing a bid. Bid increments are smaller when the current price is low and goes up as the auction price increases. The bid increment schedule is based on the currency of the auction:
